When I was 6 years old, I remember a ritual that my Father and I had.

Every Saturday my Father would cut the grass, he had one of those lawn mowers that you rode on. Like clockwork, I would hop on his lap and steer. He would always be amused when I would run over something or that I wanted to just go against the pattern he had established. I looked forward to that every week, it was my special time with him; just us two. I knew he really enjoyed it and looked forward to it to.

The lesson that I learned from my Father was that the best experiences in life are free. They say 80% of life is just showing up, that’s it. Just set the intention to show up with an open heart and enjoy the moment!

This really says it all about my relationship with my dad. The men that make a difference in our lives…our fathers, our brothers, or our uncles… and we may not remember what they said or what they did, but we will always remember how they made us feel. That feeling of being valued, nurtured and loved by the men in our lives will remain with us forever.
