A Little Pumpkin Can Be Added to Your Beauty Routine

Get your skin ready for fall with one of Mother Nature’s most beneficial products, the pumpkin…pamper your skin this season with antioxidant-rich pumpkin. With its wrinkle-fighting properties and profusion of vitamins, this spooky orange gourd smoothes and hydrates tired skin.

Pumpkin makes an excellent face mask ingredient for all skin types, especially environmentally damaged or sensitive skin. High in Vitamin A (skin healing), C (anti-oxidant) and Zinc, the pumpkin soothes, moisturizes and acts as a carrier, assisting the other mask ingredients to absorb deeper into the skin and intensifying the results.Give your skin this healing mask for a healthy glow!Pumpkin Pie Face Mask

Ingredients

  • 2 teaspoons cooked or canned pumpkin, pureed (see above for benefits)
  • one-half teaspoon honey (humectant, regenerative)
  • one-quarter teaspoon milk or soy-milk (alpha hydroxyl acid, enzymes digest skin cells)

Enjoy!

A Determined Soul

There is no chance, no destiny, no fate,
Can circumvent or hinder or control
The firm resolve of a determined soul. ~Ella Wheeler Wilcox

The key to success in life - BELIEVE in yourself and in your cause and BELIEVE in it even in the face of skepticism, ridicule, adversity, doubt or uncertainty.

Believe in your cause even when the going is tough. Believe in your cause even when everyone appears to be against you. Give it all you have. Give it all you have, all the time. Have a grand vision and never let your vision be deterred. Our dreams and good intentions are powerful, real, and hold the promise of a happier life, a better you, a sense of pride and accomplishment. But when the rubber meets the road, when it’s time to take action, it feels like you are wading waist-high in water with weights tied to your feet. Your heart is willing, but your mind and body resist. The mental difficulty of even the smallest actions can be shocking and immensely disappointing.

If you have intended with all of your heart to create a good habit, drop a bad one, fulfill a goal, or complete a project, and you have failed at it, you are not alone. Nearly everyone has difficulty maintaining resolve and following through. Even those who are self-disciplined weren’t born that way. It is a learned skill — one that takes practice and the specific knowledge of how to go about it.

Why wait, start practicing TODAY!

Protect Your Hair While Wearing Protective Hairstyles

Searching for styles to protect your hair from daily manipulation and heat styling?

Buns, puffs, braids, weaves and ponytails can be good ways to keep hair out of your face and protect your strands. At its core, yes these are “protective hairstyles’ but without care installation and maintenance things can go horribly awry. Tight hair styles can add stress to hair follicles, causing hair breakage and can be a major source of thinning edges. You should try to keep these high-tension styles to a minimum, but if you must do them, do so wisely.

Using an elastic hair band or hair band with a metal part can snag on your hair and snatch you bald, yanking out your follicles…OUCH! Make sure your edges are left out of the weave, moisturize and massage regularly to avoid breakage….EEK!

Tell us, what is your favorite protective hairstyle?

Embrace Global Diversity

October is Global Diversity Awareness Month. Celebrating, promoting and appreciating the global diversity of our society from October 1st – 31st. During this month we celebrate and embrace who we are, despite our differences, no matter what race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, age, nationality, or disability. We take this entire month to reflect on and learn about different cultures and ideologies, to vow acceptance and to consciously address these areas at educational and religious institutions, as well as in the workplace and at home.

The world is such a rich and diverse place full of interesting cultures and people but diversity reaches beyond race And gender; it’s about open mindedness, embracing non-conformity and creating balance for all. This month, I ask that you:

  • Increase your awareness of the various dimensions of diversity
  • Examine your own cultural identity
  • Become aware of your own attitudes, perceptions, and feelings about various aspects of diversity

Make the commitment to increase your understanding of diversity issues..everyday!
