Vitamins, They Do A Body Good
Vitamins play an important role in growing hair because vitamins assist amino acids and keratin, a component in protein that is in the hair follicle. |
A great deal of hair loss stems from vitamin deficiency and malnutrition. While we direct much of our focus on the improper use of particular hair-care products (relaxers, color, highlights) as culprits to hair loss, diet actually takes precedence. Sufficient intake of essential vitamins plays a crucial role in healthy hair! Proper nutrition is one of the major requirements for hair growth. Just like a plant hair also grows only if nourished properly. Vitamin E is an essential ingredient for natural hair regrowth as well as blood circulation. Vitamin B3, B5, B6 and B12 are also equally essential to ensure proper growth of hair. A multivitamin that contains all these ingredients or a pre-natal vitamin may be consumed regularly so as to ensure uninterrupted supply of hair growth stimulating nutrients to the body. |

Cut the Codependency
| Are you in a codependent relationship? |
When the codependent is drowning, someone else’s life flashes before their eyes. ~ unkown Codependency is habitual behaviors that are ultimately self-destructive. Almost everyone (at times) has symptoms of codependency, no one escapes. By definition, codependency means making a relationship more important to you than you are to yourself; it’s a pattern of detrimental, behavioral interactions within a dysfunctional relationship. The codependent develops intense feelings and will try anything to make the relationship survive. We all know that couple-the ones who live together, eat together, exercise together, adopt the same hobbies and spend every waking (and sleeping, for that matter) moment together. Their codependency knows no bounds…care taking, low self-worth, repression, obsessive behaviors, controlling behaviors, denial, dependency, poor boundaries, and lack of trust - all signs of codependency. Could this be you? In order to start the healing, you must learn that happiness is inside of us – not outside. It is important for your own emotional health, as well as others, to learn the fine line between giving that benefits and serves another verses giving that hinders. Remember to balance giving and receiving, to give from your overflow, to notice the effect of your giving on another and to take care of yourself. |

Free Mammography Day
The third Friday in October each year is National Mammography Day, first proclaimed by President Clinton in 1993. On this day, or throughout the month, women are encouraged to make a mammography appointment. |
Sponsored by National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, which is celebrating 25 years of service this month, the initiative seeks to encourage millions of women—especially older women and those in underserved communities—to receive a mammogram and become empowered in the fight against breast cancer. Mammogram facilities that would normally charge full price will provide free or low-cost exams for women on Oct. 19, and some will be extending the FREE test to other days – regardless of insurance coverage! Visit the following websites below to learn where to find the nearest participating facilities near you. 1. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention National Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program (NBCCEDP) provides breast and cervical cancer screenings and diagnostic services to low-income, uninsured and underinsured women across the United States. 2. The American College of Radiology provides a database of accredited mammography facilities, including those the ACR recognizes as Breast Imaging Centers of Excellence. 3. Susan G. Komen for the Cure works with affiliates to fund breast cancer education, screening and treatment projects. 4. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration also provides a comprehensive list of certified mammography centers, updated weekly. Visit their website to find participating facilities near you. 5. Planned Parenthood offers clinical breast exams and referrals for mammography in addition to other services for women. Visit their website or call 1-800-230-PLAN. Breast cancer is the second most common type of cancer (after skin cancer) detected among women in the United States. The chance of a woman developing breast cancer in her lifetime is a little less than 1 in 8. Routine screenings are an important step in the early detection and successful treatment of breast cancer. |
