Lay Your Head on Your Pillow

Developing a good night-time hair regimen can be the next best thing to protective styling, if you prefer to steer clear from those hairstyles. A night-time regimen will cut down on your Diva time in the morning, it also aids in keeping your tresses moisturized and healthy!

The regimen doesn’t have to be any more than ten minutes. For maximum results, part your hair in 4-6 sections and apply a small amount of Nourish & Shine. Secure each section with a twist or braid to keep the hair moisturized and detangled while deep in your beauty sleep. Sleeping on a silk or satin scarf, bonnet or pillow case must be part of your night time hair care regimen. Satin or silk fabric helps your natural hair to retain moisture; cotton, on the other hand, absorbs moisture. All of this ensures morning styling ease by simply having to unravel the twists/braids and style as you please.

It’s all trial and error, everything doesn’t work for everyone…having a regimen will get you one step closer to achieving awesome results!

Tangerine to Combat Winter Skin

Winter can be so harsh on our skin, making us flaky and dry…totally unacceptable! If you’re anything like me, you are a fan of having clear, smooth, moisturized skin; great skin = happy skin = happy me. What is your skin currently telling you it needs?

Tangerines are delicious to eat and have amazing cosmetic properties. These fruits are very high on Vitamin C and P, mineral salts and pro vitamin A, all of which help in improving and rejuvenating the skin. Oatmeal and dried orange peel are excellent for gently exfoliating the dead skin cells from your face. Honey is naturally antibacterial and is wonderfully cleansing, and also is good for tightening your skin.

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup steel-cut oatmeal (you can substitute instant unflavored oatmeal)
    juice from 1 whole tangerine
  • 3 tablespoons plain yogurt with active cultures (Greek yogurt is great for this!)
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 2 teaspoons dried orange peel (found in the spice aisle of most grocery stores)

Combine all ingredients in a small bowl, stir until well-mixed and combined. You’re looking for a consistency that is thick enough to stay on your face without sliding; you can always add extra oatmeal to thicken. Spread onto your freshly washed and dried face in an even layer, being careful to avoid the eye area. Leave on for 15-30 minutes. Rinse this mask off with warm water. Pat dry and hydrate skin!

Does your skin deserve a moisturizing fruit facial this winter?

To Color….or Not to Color

Many women adore the option of changing their hair color or adding a few sultry highlights, but fear the damage that they may cause. The truth is, coloring your hair is only as damaging as you make it out to be…maintaining healthy color treated hair is all in the care you provide.

Blondes – Golden tresses with warm highlights that are well blended. Platinum blond can be hot if done right and kept from looking brassy.

Reds – Natural looking shades of red hair, if you prefer a bolder red go for shades of plum and copper.

Brunettes – Shades of hazelnut, coffee, and caramel with highlights are seamless and well blended.

Color treated hair requires tender loving care…and MOISTURE! Remember, moisture means water not “grease”. Jane Carter Solution has what you need, try:

What’s in Your Owner’s Manual?

Boundaries are limits you set on how others can treat you or behave around you. These boundaries can be found within your owner’s manual…what’s in your owner’s manual?

“People will treat you how you teach them to treat you.”

Having strong boundaries are important for protecting your body, mind, and spirit, setting boundaries can make an enormous impact on the quality of your life. Though you can’t control how any certain individual treats you, you can control who you allow to be in your life…it all comes back to you. It’s up to you to allow or not allow certain treatment. Get clear about the respect and treatment you deserve; take responsibility enough to write your own owner’s manual but know that you are accountable for living by your owner’s manual.

You must take responsibility for how others treat you and be accountable for what you allow; remember accountability and responsibility has nothing to do with blame. They are an entirely different energy and intent than blame. Blame seeks to shame and belittle, responsibility seeks to “un-victim” you.

TLC for your Edges

Do you fantasize about a thicker, fuller hairline? Do you have edge envy? Is it possible that your edges are…on the edge of disappearing?

If so, you’ve come to the right place! Edges are among the most fragile parts of your hair, and the pulling and grabbing naturally involved in styling can put strain on them. If you notice that your edges are beginning to stress, STOP and REGROUP! You too can have smooth, soft edges without causing any damage.
Yes, we all want our edges to look ‘neat’ and ‘finished’, but we also have to be realistic. Since your edges are more fragile than the rest of your hair, it is easily affected by bad products and techniques. Products that are super drying or promote buildup will put more strain on your edges, resulting in breakage and shedding.
Apply a little Jane Carter Solution Hair Nourishing Cream to your edges for manageability, simply brush back with a soft brush.
That is how you bring your edges back from the edge.
